The Robert "Bob" Whitty Agricultural Scholarship was established in 2019 in his honor. Each year a $1,000 Scholarship is given to a graduating senior of a Martin County high school, who has participated in agricultural related organizations and wishes to pursue further education.
Robert "Bob" Whitty  Agricultural Scholarship:

Robert "Bob" Whitty was a make-things-happen leader with the Kiwanis Club of Stuart for 48 years, a warm and caring man, respected and beloved by all who were lucky enough to come in contact with him, a man of incredible humor, intelligence,  always a smile, a laugh and willing to help. A truly delightful person to be around.  His passing was a great loss to our club and the community.

Bob graduated from the University of Florida's College of Agriculture. He and his family moved to Martin County in 1971, where he worked for twenty-three years as the Cooperative Extension Administrator. In "retirement," he took a position as  an Agriculture appraiser with the Martin County Property Appraiser's Office and served the county for another nine years.  Over his lifetime, Bob volunteered with many organizations including Suwannee County 4 H, Live Oak Jaycees, Kiwanis Club of Stuart, Martin County 4 H, the Orchid Society, the Martin County Fair and the Men's Garden Club.

The Robert "Bob" Whitty Agricultural Scholarship was endowed anonymously by a past Kiwanian, who was so impressed by Bob's character  and wished his legacy of helping others to continue indefinitely.
